THE PLAN

To our flying community, here are our current plans and timelines for the Fly California Program. If we did not answer a question you may have, please feel free to email us at [email protected].

What’s next for the program?

  • Request from the community:
    • Submit ideas for custom stamps to be made for your home airport.
    • Email us the airport identifier, and if you have a line art image, to [email protected].
    • NOTE: green-highlighted airports have a stamp design: Fly CA Passport Stamps Tracker
  • Placing Stamps
    • If you are willing to place a stamp at an airport that is not highlighted on the stamp tracker, please email us at [email protected].
    • A stamp and ink pad will be dropped shipped to you to be placed at the airport.
    • NOTE: If the location will need an outside box, we will work with you to send a box to be placed at the field.
  • Community help get the program into the “air”:
    • Review the list of airports by region
    • Suggest whether an airport should be moved to another region or into the “adventure” category.
    • Please include a short explanation for any suggested change and send it to [email protected].
  • Stamp Placement Support:
    • Contact airport managers or local clubs to ask if they will host and manage a stamp.
    • Volunteer to help place stamps at locations with 24-hour access (stamps will be drop-shipped to you).
    • For airports without on-site or indoor facilities, volunteers can serve as the local contact. We’ll provide a waterproof box and mounting instructions.
  • Program communication
    • Help establish a simple way to notify pilots when new stamps become available.
    • Goal: avoid extra email lists or Facebook groups.
  • Reward verification
    • The final airport list is not yet set.
    • No reward achievements will be available until then.
  • Program Review:
    • Collect community feedback after one year to refine the program and add new ideas.
    • Review sustainability and future funding opportunities at that time.

Future ideas for the program

  • Develop a junior passport program for kids:
    • Collect 20 stamps (smaller book, unique design).
    • Visit 2–4 aviation museums for stamps.
    • Participate in one aviation-related educational activity (ideas welcome).
  • Partner with museums:
    • Help encourage visitations and expand our aviation community involvement.
  • Aviation-related education:
    • Include participation in a pilot education seminar/meeting for 100% completion.
    • Involve youth through Jr. Eagle or similar programs.
  • GEO Cache
    • Possible tie-in to GEO cache (ideas welcome).
